In an effort to bring out the best of talent in the world of 2D cartooning and 3D animation, Access Atlantech Technologies (I) Limited and Kerela Cartoon Academy launched Aniyug 2007….an ANIMATION FILM CONTEST CUM SEMINAR.
Animation as a concept has grown over the years and has become a part of the media and entertainment industry. Today India can boast of creating full fledged animation feature films as Hanuman, life of krishna Krishna, etc and many more in the making.. Over 40 corporates ,with big names as Reliance, TATA group, Percept, Apollo Tyres, Pyramid group, Sony Image Works, Electronic Arts, Thomson group of France, etc form a part of the animation industry in India. Films cities and SEZs are fast becoming a part of the animation set up in India. The Kerala government being among the first to roll out an SEZ for animation. Kerala as a state has a rich tradition of Arts and aptly speaks for ANIYUG to be inaugurated there. An industry which is slated to take India beyond the ten billion mark by 2011,animation is here to stay.
Commenting on ANIYUG ’07 Mr Monai, Chairman KCA, says “with animation being a big draw for creative talent to come out into the open we find that this is the right time for KCA to host such an event with one of the biggest institutions in the country. This event will also help KCA to get into further pursuits to do with cartooning and animation.” Mr Sudhir Nath, Secretary, KCA, adds, “we will look at empowering the youth with creative tools and technology thereby taking cartooning as a profession and art to the next level.”
Date of the Seminar :May 4th and 5th of 2007.. Venue - The Townhall, Kochi.
Entries for the animation film competition shall be taken from 10th April 2007and last date for entries is 30th April 2007. The best animation films shall be judged by a panel which is to be announced shortly. Leading personalities are expected to be part of the panel. Said,Mr Rathish Babu CEO of AAT, The industry needs trained hands to grow. Today there is an acute shortage of technical and managerial talent in this industry. Good project managers and personnel with art and technology background will have a great career ahead. Not to mention international projects coming to India and also Kerala in particular. We are looking at a long term association with KCA.
ANIYUG’07 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE CONTEST
Kinds of films that will be accepted
Each film can be no longer than 10 minutes.
These could be
-Computer graphic animation (2D/3D)
-3D-rendered films (Includes stop-motion and clay animation)
Requirements:
Film must be between one minute - ten minutes in length, excluding credits.
All submitted Project must be a complete work (i.e., it has a beginning and an end).
Film must be designated for 25 frames per second playback [PAL].
All components of the Film must be the original creation of the participant.
Participant can use third-party plug-ins (commercial or free) to enhance or modify the program’s functionality.
Submissions must include a “title slate” that identifies the original creator, the title of the submission, the software used, and the total running time.
Film must be submitted in CD (Windows Media or QuickTime with the compressor attached).
Film may not contain profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competition messages or material considered illegal. Project containing any such aspects and/or that are in violation of law or otherwise deemed by SAE to be inappropriate will be withheld.
Film must be submitted on an individual basis only (i.e., no joint or Group) and all Components of the entry must be the original creation of the participant. Only non-commercial work may be submitted; professional work produced at a production studio is not permitted.
Any project that does not comply with these restrictions or any other requirement herein is subject to withheld.

Eligibility
All Indian residents are eligible to enter, regardless of age, sex, or citizenship
Professionals and amateurs are eligible for entry
Audio used in the film must have been created by the applicant, or be otherwise free from copyright
Each Applicant can submit atleast 3 entries.

Judging Procedures
The judging committee, will judge the film fairly. The judging committee, the sponsor, will not respond to individual inquiries regarding judgment criteria and the contest results.
Objective
This contest invites digital content creators, both professional and amateur, to enter their original work. All valid entries will be judged fairly based on the judgment criteria, and exceptional entries will be awarded prizes.

ANY AND ALL COST INCURRED IN CONNECTION WITH THE APPLICANT'S ENTRY OF THE WORK SHALL BE BORN SOLELY BY THE APPLICANT.
